Rose Grove favourite - Stanier 8F 48666

Back in 2007 I was buying locos for a future layout, and one loco that fitted the bill perfectly was a DJH 8F, fitted with an RG4 motor, which went for a very respectable £110 - a far cry from the 'Buy Now' equivalents listed at £250 on eBay cirrently. This has sat in the queue awaiting its time in the workshop to have her Lenz silver decoder fitted, and now she is back in traffic, as the following two shots show, with her standing on the Copy Pit line at Hall Royd.

48666 was a Rose Grove loco, and was often seen in the banking siding at Stansfield Hall in 1967 and 1968. She survived to the very end, being 'out' on 3 August 1968, and is believed to be the last loco to derail itself, actually coming off the rod as it returned to Rose Grove, and blocked the shed throat for an hour or so.

And just a reminder of how the loco looked in its last few years of service, here is a clip from the 30939Archive which opens with 48666 running through Rose Grove station.
