Howard Scenics' Terraced Houses

There has always been a dearth of quality building kits. I started my modelling in a period when the only buildings available were Superquick or Bliteezi. Subsequently Metcalfe has become a major palyer, but I have never been happy with the reproduction of their brick and stone work.

And then in the mid-80s Howard Scenics launched a quality terraced house kit. There was a write-up in the 'Model Railway Journal' and thought these would create the sort of Coronation Street-type scene that I needed. Even when I was building them was the thought that they had a southern feel to them. Worse, at the time I lived in a town in Buckinghamshire that had a number of houses that the technical term for might be 'identical'. It was looking at the prototype variants that led me to modify one my kits to reflect this.
